Mr. Kirby has handled matters in Federal Court, at the District and Appellate levels. Mr. Kirby’s work focuses on civil litigation, including personal injury and construction defects cases. He has also handled many coverage claims, both in an advisory capacity, and in litigation. Mr. Kirby has taught continuing education courses to attorneys and to insurance adjusters on topics including insurance coverage, “bad faith” actions, the duty to defend, underinsured and uninsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage, construction coverage, construction litigation, contribution and indemnity, and minor’s settlements.

John is a volunteer in the Guardian Ad Litem program, serving in a pro bono capacity representing the interests of minors on appeal.

John Kirby away from the office :

John’s hobbies include competitive bridge, Scrabble and jogging. He also plays chess; in September 2005 he tied for first place at the North Carolina Chess Championship. In 2006 he tied for second place at the North Carolina Invitational Chess tournament.
